I research behavioral and experimental economics, with applications in labor economics and public health.
I am currently a visiting scholar in the Department of Economics at Purdue University.

I am a first-generation college graduate who washed dishes in a small-town Wyoming restaurant and was a commercial radio station “stunt boy” (official title) and disc jockey in larger-town Montana.
Before my doctoral studies I worked a variety of web engineering contracts and founded multiple start-ups. I earned a B.A. in philosophy (economics second major, mathematics minor) and an M.S. in applied economics at Montana State University in Bozeman. For a year I worked as a professional software engineer, after which I obtained a Ph.D. in economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Beyond the requisite hiking and backpacking, I enjoy bouldering, running, cycling, and skiing when the opportunity affords.
